Our tomorrow lies in the hands of the youth of today, and however little or seemingly insignificant one’s contribution may be, each and every one of us shape the future of the world. This accounts for one of the most important questions of today: Does the youth know what its responsibilities are? If so, where do they really stand in terms of turning the hopes and aspirations of people into a reality? As the millennials constitute of what is almost about 40% of the world’s population, the world for the coming decades will have the largest workforce in the history of mankind. It will be a workforce with great capabilities, and even greater resources, capable of truly bringing about change. In times like that of today, where world peace remains under doubts, it is the new generation which must take up the baton to bring in light into the world. For decades, it has been thought that the solutions to the problems lie within the creative genius of this youth. But for some time now, it has been brought to focus that this generation who hold the future of our world, may also hold the possibility of becoming a stumbling block. Delving into a deeper analysis of this issue, the root of this predicament has been identified to be ranging from contentions such as - disturbed mental health, extreme peer pressure, and substance abuse. If we are to build a future based on peace, prosperity and mutual regard for others’ well-being, we have to first secure the hands that will mould this new world. We welcome you to the third session of Maria’s Model United Nations, 2017 where the millennials will face their biggest obstacles and try to overcome them.
